TFI 40: Reforging the Founders

Hail friends!

Here we are with TFI episode #40!  It is hard to imagine that we have recorded 40 “business meetings” for our nascent network and even more amazing is so many of you listen to our ramblings!   In this episode we give a fond farewell to former radio director Michael Kaiser, wishing him all the best in his endeavors and hoping he can come back to a greater involvement at the network again in the future.  Friends in Middle-earth are friends forever!  The number 40 being rather momentous, we go over some of what the network has accomplished in such a short time, as well the ever growing excitement of upcoming plans.  We are joined by our newest founder Paul Martin as well as our great friend and Lonely Mountaineer Sir Robert Muller.  A brave hobbit named Bandoras also makes a short appearance. New Zealand, Arctic Fire, A Map of Narnia, Tolkien Society Today, and a host of other topics are covered in this always spur of the moment style, and open business meeting of the founders of the Middle-earth Network.  If I forgot anything, be sure to comment below!  Forgive the audio, Mark gets a little wonky in his subterranean studio of the mid-west.

Being re-forged, TFI 41 next week is sure to be a productive and newly inspired meeting.  Fair travels for now friends!  NINNIMUGGINS!… COME FORTH!

TFI 38: The Fellows Hip

‘The Founders’ Inklings‘ (TFI#38) radio show is back  right here on Middle-earth Network Radio. Tonight we’ve got the producers of the The Fellows Hip joining the Middle-earth Network Founders on air!

THE FELLOWS HIP:

Randall Dooley is a geek. His three best friends are geeks too, he works in a game shop, he spends all his free time playing online games, his older brother bullies him unmercifully, his widowed mom doesn’t understand him, and he’s hopelessly in love with the prettiest cheerleader in high school.

In short, he’s a loser.

All of that changes when he hears of the Lord of the Rings gaming competition in Orlando, Florida. Finally! Meaning in life!

Randall’s guild of online-gaming geeks is the best around. They’re a cinch to win their area and gain a spot in Orlando. However, right before the regionals, Randall is framed for drugs by a gaming rival and expelled from high school. He’s grounded for life and going nowhere-least of all, the gaming competition in Orlando.

After the principal refuses to believe the evidence showing he’s innocent, Randall is left with only one option: vindication at the gaming competition. He and his gaming friends steal the class car, rebuilt by the inept hand of students in auto shop and hit the road.

Evading capture by Randall’s older brother, the four friends fall in with a commune of hippies in the forest, get in a paintball war and finally make it to Orlando with the assistance of a hamburger-loving vegetarian hippie.

At the gaming competition, Randall and his friends evade capture by the security guards in order to reach the convention commissioner. Vindicated of guilt, they enter the competition and find victory, true love and sweet revenge.

The Fellows Hip: Rise of the Gamers is a buddy-comedy written in honor of online gamers and The Lord of the Rings. Full of Tolkien-references and good-hearted parody, The Fellows Hip will appeal to Tolkien-fans and gamers alike, as well as anyone who’s never been part of the in-crowd.
